Update 20: Bathrooms and Ensuites

Master Bedroom Ensuite

The master ensuite has a wet room walk in shower area.

The first stage when preparing a wet room is to ensure that water runs straight to the drain. The wet room floor must gradually slope to the drain with a gentle and even gradient.

Tanking wet room walls

The whole room will need to be tanked to ensure that it is water tight. The walls will need to be sound and flat, and a primer applied to seal the surface before the membrane can be applied. The liquid rubber membrane is applied in two coats. The first is applied horizontally and the second is applied vertically.

Ensuite Bedroom 2

This ensuite has a low profile shower tray, rather than being a contained wet room. The tiler has tanked out just the area around the shower and the alcove.

Tiles have been installed directly onto the membrane, forming an effective water barrier.

There is still a mirror to fit in this ensuite above the vanity unit.

Family bathroom

A waterproof membrane has been placed on the floor before tiling as the area around a bath is most vulnerable to splashing.
