The Ziggurat - Capture the Power of the Ancient Egyptians
The name of this house describes a ‘temple in the style of a pyramidal tower’, a design used in ancient Mesopotamia. Contemporary or ancient, the Ziggurat’s angular rooflines definitely strike a chord also in this day and age.
Entering the house via the covered entrance porch and vestibule, you arrive straight into the large central inner hall with an open view through the sitting room and onto the garden beyond.
This vast, double height room is open right up to the apex with light streaming in through windows at both levels; additional features are gluelam ceiling beams and a central open fire.
The ground floor also incorporates a kitchen and a triple-aspect dining room, featuring a back to back woodburner to the inner hall, as well as a cosy family room or 5th bedroom, a study and a separate utility room.
The first floor accommodation includes the master bedroom with dressing room and en-suite facilities plus a further double bedroom and two single bedrooms, a family bathroom and a first floor sitting area.
The result is a contemporary home, which is extremely spacious and quite unique.
