2- & 3-storey designs | |||||||||

One of the factors which will have the greatest influence on the design of your new home is undoubtedly the site. If this is level and spacious, with no obvious restrictions, you should be able to choose virtually any type of design, be this single, two or three storey - the 'only' restrictions being those imposed by the local planning authority and, of course, your own budget. However, if your site is sloping or very narrow, you may be obliged to build into the slope, following the contours of the land, or building two or three storeys in order to provide the accommodation you and your family require. A full two-storey house takes up less room on the site and, where space really is at a premium, it may be possible to incorporate a third floor into the basement or the roof space. This section includes two customer 'case studies' - one describing the build of a three storey design on a narrow plot with rooms 'in the roof', the other a three storey home built into the slope of an extremely steep site. Simply click on the links on the right to read the 'full stories' and view pictures and floor plans. |
