WE DID IT!!!!!

We completed the Pavilion in just 16 weeks!!! The community of Lingfield can now start to benefit from this fantastic project. The Nursery is ready for Occupation and the local Cricket and Football teams can look forward to making good use of their excellent new facilities. Thank you to everybody involved in making this challenging project a rewarding reality.

September 2011...

PAVILION LATEST...



Huge strides have been made on this project. - the middle of September and all that remains to be done is the completion of the carpentry and decorating, the drive to be finished and the flooring to be laid!!!

Teams have been totally dedicated to this project and committed to getting it completed on time. We have been so fortunate to have benefited from so many generous organisations. Both Parkgate Construction and MJA Builders have given their time and services at massively reduced rates, Moore Scaffolding from nearby Lingfield provided their services free of charge.


Aldridge & Trillwood provided the paint, some of which at a huge reduction and the rest for free, Sadolin provided the stain free of charge, Provincial Windows provided the external doors and windows at a huge reduction, Alincourt gave us a fantastic deal on the roofing, Barge Tiles provided the tiles, some for free and the rest at a massive discount.


Coppard gave us an excellent deal on the screed and Gerrard Levy laid the screed at a massively reduced rate. Sheffield Insulations provided the insulation and plasterboard - some at massive reductions and some free of charge. Villavent provided their goods and services at cost and Robbens supplied the underfloor heating free of charge.



Howdens supplied the internal doors and kitchens at trade rates and The Build Centre and Mid-Sussex Timber provided many materials at massively reduced rates.

Thank you to all of you who have helped with this project so far. It truly has been a Community event and something Scandia-Hus are justifiably proud to have been involved with. Keep checking - with just under 2 weeks left, will we achieve our goal?...

FURTHER UPDATE ON THE LINGFIELD PAVILION...

What a difference a couple of weeks can make! The Pavilion has been decorated, the kitchen has been installed. The 2nd fix of the electrics, plumbing and carpentry is well underway all ready for the doors to be hung...

August 2011...

UPDATE ON THE LINGFIELD PAVILION...

The last few weeks have seen the Pavilion come on in leaps and bounds. The internal walls have been plaster boarded and plastered, the underfloor heating has been laid, the roof tiles have been laid and the external brickwork is now complete. Check back soon to keep watching the tremendous progress being made.

GREAT NEWS FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY OF LINGFIELD...

We are delighted to be involved with building a brand new Pavilion for Lingfield Cricket & Football clubs which will also house the first class Stables Nursery School.

The run down Pavilion was in need of attention and when Scandia-Hus heard that The Stables Nursery School had to find new premises we wanted to get involved and help both worthy causes. With the help of many services from the local community, some of whom are working with us without charge and many of whom are providing their services and supplies at substantially reduced costs, we are building a brand new Pavilion which will provide the same amount of space for the Cricket & Football club and will also house The Stables Nursery School.


Thanks to the huge support of the local community and Councillors, planning was granted and we were able to get the kit delivered to the site on 27th June. The project has to completed in a very tight timescale as the Nursery need to be moved in by the end of September! Keep checking to see how quickly this build progresses!

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION AT GRAND DESIGNS LIVE, NEC

Grand Designs Live NEC was an incredible event attracting more visitors than ever to the NEC. Kevin McCloud, George Clarke, John Burton-Race and a host of celebrities greeted waiting visitors to kick off Grand Designs Live Birmingham, with Kevin officially cutting the ribbon to officially open the three-day event.

"FILM STARS" MOVE INTO THEIR NEW HOME...

Having agreed to their self-build journey being filmed for TV, our customers have now moved into their Dream Home. Starting on Thursday 19th November, you can share their journey with them, from the possibility of newts in their garden requiring the heavy involvement of Surrey Wildlife, resulting in Planning Permission being granted on Christmas Eve (a welcome Christmas present) through to them taking occupancy of their beautiful new home this month.

They started with a standard Chiddingstone design and made various changes to suit their way of life - modern family living with large open spaces. The family's love of music sees them play in a popular local band and they like to entertain at home.
The result is a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom chalet with the dowstairs having a kitchen/dining room which opens through to the garden.

As a thank you for letting them film, the Television Production Company have arranged for the family to holiday in Norway.

SCANDIA-HUS SCOOP ANOTHER LABC AWARD...

We are delighted to announce that an impressive four bedroom Scandia-Hus Ltd detached dwelling, with hidden depths has won the Best Individual House for East Anglia. It comprises a two-storey dwelling and basement with rendered and weather boarded elevations above a brick plinth under a steeply pitched plain clay tiled roof. A full case study will follow soon.

Another busy month beginning with Grand Designs Live coming to a close. Once again, this show re-affirmed the general consensus that this is a time when self builders can benefit from the credit crunch. The cost of land and materials has decreased whilst the availability has increased - a great time to be building your own home.
