Scandia-Hus Manufacturing

When Scandia-Hus was first established in the UK in 1972, our homes were designed and manufactured at our Swedish factory and transported to this country on huge articulated trailers. Although we still bring the majority of the materials and components over from Sweden, including structural timber and joinery, triple glazed windows, fully insulated external doors, beautiful staircases and internal doors, profiled skirting boards, architraves, coving, etc. and continue to maintain close links with our Swedish origins, today we have our own factory in Sussex - Scandia-Hus Manufacturing Limited.

To be able to produce our homes 'in-house' means that we now have complete command over the whole production process, right from individual customer design to choice of material specification and technical detailing, as well as over the actual manufacture of each and every Scandia-Hus building set. This gives us absolute control over the quality of the finished product, and the closer inter-company links between Scandia's sales and production departments are an added benefit to our customers.

Scandia-Hus Manufacturing is headed by a management team of five, all of whom bring valuable individual skills to the company :-

The Factory Management team

Peter Dawson, Managing Director

Peter Dawson, Scandia-Hus Manufacturing's Managing Director, has over 25 years' experience in the construction industry. He is a skilled carpenter by trade and has been directly involved with the construction of Scandia-Hus homes for the past 15 years.

Peter was head-hunted, and enticed away from his own building company, to head the Company's management team. He brings a host of experience in construction, planning, costing and man management. Peter's practical approach to the charge of running the operation, provides a refreshing, common-sense management style.

Tony Watts

Tony Watts is the Company's Operations Manager. His responsibilities include the checking, planning and execution of each contract, ensuring the accuracy of every last detail of every delivery.

Prior to joining Scandia-Hus, Tony held various positions as contract manager, project manager and site manager with construction companies both in this country and in South Africa. He brings valuable experience from the above positions as well as practical know-how from his involvement in property renovation and small building works.

Dave Parsons

In charge of manufacturing on the shop floor is Dave Parsons, Scandia-Hus Manufacturing's Factory Works Manager. A skilled carpenter and joiner, and a real 'hands-on' manager with more years' experience of timber and joinery than he would care to admit!

Dave leads the team of carpenters manufacturing the Scandia-Hus wall panels and other pre-fabricated components and supervises the collation and despatch of each building set to site. Like Peter Dawson, he has been working closely with Scandia-Hus over many years, erecting the frames and undertaking the carpentry work for countless Scandia-Hus customers. Between the two of them they have in excess of 25 years' experience of constructing Scandia-Hus homes and are familiar with every aspect of our products, from design to manufacture and construction.

Alan Holloway

Alan Holloway, who is in charge of Scandia-Hus Manufacturing's Technical Department and Drawing Office, originally joined Scandia-Hus in 1989. During the past 15 years, he has gained a thorough working knowledge of everything that is Scandia-Hus - design, planning, building regulations, technical detailing, construction, site surveys and inspections - and, since moving over to the manufacturing side of the business, Alan is providing the Scandia-Hus factory with much valued expertise in all these areas.

Ian McTigue

Just as important as the manufacture and collation of the Scandia- Hus building sets is the buying of the correct materials, in accurate quantities, to the highest possible quality, on time and at the right price. This is where Ian McTigue comes in. Prior to joining Scandia-Hus Manufacturing, Ian was employed as a buyer for one of the country's leading builders merchants for 15 years. With his vast experience, there is probably not one part of a building for which Ian has not been involved in buying components. Such expertise is of key importance to a house manufacturer and helps us ensure the quality and cost of the components required for the manufacture of our homes.
