When their family had flown the nest, the owners of this chalet decided to build themselves a new house in the back-garden of their large family home.

After visiting Scandia-Hus’ Show Centre in Sussex, they were convinced that timber-frame was for them and that Scandia was the company they wanted to do business with. They opted for one of Scandia’s standard designs, which was modified to accommodate their specific requirements of two large bedrooms and a home office on the first floor instead of the four bedrooms provided in the standard lay-out.

The original design also featured a hall and a separate dining room, but the couple decided to convert the dining room into a ‘snug’ for watching television and create a large combined dining-hall for formal entertaining, using the kitchen for every-day dining.
