Bungalow home designs have always been a favourite with Scandia-Hus’ customers and we offer a wide range of imaginative and versatile designs.

You may be looking for a spacious, open-plan home or you may prefer a cozy retirement bungalow. Either way we will help ensure that the layout of your new bungalow home becomes as individual as you are.

The word "bungalow" derives from the Hindi word "bangla", which literally means a house "in the Bengal style". Such homes were traditionally small, one-storey, thatched dwellings incorporating a wide verandah. Today, all single-storey buildings, small or large, are described as bungalow homes.

Whether you opt for one of our standard bungalow homes or elect to go the ‘bespoke’ route, every home we design is created by a dedicated team of designers and technicians, who pride themselves on their ability to work closely with our customers and to respond creatively to their specific requirements.

Bungalows are of course also particularly convenient for wheelchair users, providing easy access to all living areas on the same floor. Wheelchair thresholds are provided as standard to all Scandia-Hus front entrance doors, and can be specified also for patio doors or French doors leading to the garden. In addition, all internal doors measure a minimum of 850mm in width, allowing free wheelchair access.
